My Project EV app is showing my charger as “Unavailable”

Frequently Asked Question...

My Project EV app is showing my charger as “Unavailable”

Answer:

Please check your home Wi-Fi and ensure that it is working properly.

Is the distance between the charger and home router 8m or more?

A Wi-Fi extender may be required to boost the range of Wi-Fi in your property. Check your signal strength by standing next to your charger and scanning for your home Wi-Fi using a mobile phone or tablet.

Alternatively, follow the step-by-step guide below for connecting your charger via the app:

How to connect your Project EV Car Charger to Wi-Fi using the Project EV app

Or, for Laptop Setup:

How to commission your charger using a laptop

If you have checked all of this and the problem is not resolved, please contact Project EV.

  • I have changed Wifi supplier and now the charger is showing as unavailable, then trying to connect and using the default password (12345678) it is not recognizing the password and fails to connect - please advise on how to re-connect.

Update - After being advised to call the helpline was able (after some faff with the phone) to successfully re-connect the app - many thanks to Brandon!

  • I have been away for 3 months and when I came home I changed my Wi-Fi provider. The App connects to the Wifi but says charger is unavailable. I have followed the instruction given to check the Wi-Fi and hot spot but cannot get the charger to connect to the app. It can charge manually. Regards Norman Makin

  • I've been using the Project EV and its App now for about a year occasionally charging a night on off-peak, but the other day the car did not charge as expected and I have since noticed that the App is showing "Unavailable". My charger is in my garage about 30metres from my router with very poor signal, so when installed I had them install a data connector between charger and router. Now I can see the charger on my router address mapping page on port 1, and I can see my iPhone on the WiFi map on the router, but I still cannot connect my iPhone to the charger. I'm using a BT Home Hub 2 as router, in the past reconnecting the data cable has changed the status of the charger to Preparing from Unavailable but now not even that does the trick. Seeking a solution!
